Finalidad de los primeros auxilios:

Son una herramienta eficaz que ayuda a salvar vidas; suministrar entrenamiento en este campo en el entorno laboral, le permitirá a los trabajadores estar más preparados para enfrentar las emergencias que se puedan presentar, en las cuales se involucre la vida de otra persona. La capacitación en este aspecto debe hacer parte los programas de seguridad y salud en el trabajo de la compañía.

El botiquín de primeros auxilios sirve para actuar en caso de lesiones leves o indisposiciones que, en principio, no necesitan asistencias sanitarias. Si ocurre un accidente grave se debe esperar a que llegue el personal calificado ya que, en caso contrario, se puede incluso perjudicar al accidentado.

En cada hogar y en todo lugar donde exista concentración de personas debe existir un Botiquín de Primeros Auxilios.

La actuación del socorrista o brigadista está vinculada a:

– Hacer frente a un riesgo inmediato y vital: (Ej.: parada respiratoria, cardíaca, hemorragia intensa…).
– Evitar o disminuir el riesgo de complicaciones posteriores al accidente. (Ej.: parálisis por una manipulación inadecuada de una fractura de un miembro o de la columna vertebral)
